  12. This update corrects a number of problems in the way NEXTSTEP Release
  13. 3.2 works with DOS file systems, most notably:
  14.  
  15. -        You can now use DOS partitions larger than 32 megabytes,
  16.          without risk of corrupting the files on that partition.
  17. -        The File Viewer now accurately reports the space available
  18.          on DOS partitions larger than 32 megabytes.
  19. -        You can now use removable DOS hard disks
  20.          (such as Syquest and Bernoulli disks).
  21. -        You can now work with some of the DOS partitions
  22.          that NEXTSTEP Release 3.2 was unable to "mount."

  28. Welcome to the NeXTanswers information retrieval system!

  30. This system allows you to request online technical documents, drivers, and
  31. other software, which are then sent to you automatically.  You can request
  32. documents by fax or Internet electronic mail, or you can transfer them by
  33. anonymous ftp.

  35. NeXTanswers is an automated retrieval system.  Requests sent to it are
  36. answered electronically, and are not read or handled by a human being.
  37. NeXTanswers does not answer your questions or forward your requests.

  40. USING NEXTANSWERS BY E-MAIL
  41.  
  42. To use NeXTanswers by Internet e-mail, send requests to NeXTanswers@next.com.
  43. Files are sent as NeXTmail attachments by default; you can request they be
  44. sent as ASCII text files instead.
  45.  
  46. To request a file, include that file's ID number in the Subject line or the
  47. body of the message.  You can request several files in a single message.
  48.  
  49. You can also include commands in the Subject line or the body of the message.
  50. These commands affect the way that files you request are sent:
  51.  
  52.   ASCII            causes the requested files to be sent as ASCII text
  53.   SPLIT            splits large files into 95KB chunks, using the MIME
  54.                    Message/Partial specification
  55.  
  56. These commands return information about the NeXTanswers system:
  57.  
  58.   HELP             returns this help file
  59.   INDEX            returns the list of all available files
  60.   INDEX BY DATE    returns the list of files, sorted newest to oldest
  61.   SEARCH keywords  lists all files that contain all the keywords you list
  62.                    (ignoring capitalization)

  64. For example, a message with the following Subject line requests
  65. three files:

  69. A message with this body requests the same three files be
  70. sent as ASCII text files:

  81. NeXTanswers will reply to the address in your From: line.  To use a different
  82. address either set your Reply-To: line, or use the NeXTanswers command
  83. REPLY-TO <your-address>

  89. USING NEXTANSWERS BY FAX
  90.  
  91. To use NeXTanswers by fax, call (415) 780-3990 from a touch-tone phone and
  92. follow the instructions.  You'll be asked for your fax number, a number to
  93. identify your fax (like your phone extension or office number), and the ID
  94. numbers of the files you want.  You can also request a list of available
  95. files.  When you finish entering the file numbers, end the call and the
  96. files will be faxed to you.

  99. at 1-800-848-6398. You cannot use the fax system outside the U.S & Canada.

  102. USING NEXTANSWERS BY ANONYMOUS FTP
  103.  
  104. To use NeXTanswers by Internet anonymous FTP, connect to FTP.NEXT.COM
  105. and read the help file pub/NeXTanswers/README.  If you have problems using
